Possible Additional Travel Adoption Related Expenses:
Airline tickets, lodging, transportation, interpreter, food, child adoption documents, and travel costs may vary due to number of people. Travel expenses incurred for adoption are reimbursed by IRS adoption credit.
Varies by location depending where you live and the birthmother
Possible Additional Birthmother Expenses:
Living expenses greatly vary for the birth mother as it depends on both her documentable needs and the laws of the state. Normally you can expect $6,000 to $8,000 in non refundable birthmother expenses.
Estimate $6,000-8,000 If the birth mother changes her mind then she rarely has the means to give this back
NOTE: IRS is providing a tax credit in 2011 of approximately $13,170 which will provide an adoption expense reimbursement of many of these program fees. This credit is an actual refund the IRS sends you based on all of the documented expenses you have incurred in adopting including any traveling expenses. This dramatically reduces the cost of adoption!
